3D Shape Hotel - Winners announced!!

The judging was extremely difficult as all the buildings were so impressive but we finally managed to whittle them down to a top three. So...
At number 3 we have the snake hotel by Alex, his mum, Pierce and Makel! The complex structure for the snake to use as a playground was very imaginative and detailed!

Number 2 sees the Giraffe hotel by Roshini, her mum and Bradley - a very thoughtful building for a very tall guest including a giraffe-sized door and window!

And ... in first place was the Pig hotel complete with a parasol and reinforced fencing! Congratulations on a luxurious pig pen to Phoebie, Libby and Tracey Bridgett!

Thank you and well done to all those who took part it was a super effort!

Rainbow Grammar

The children also shared their Rainbow Grammar learning with their grown ups and worked on building sentences about their chosen animals.

Parent Open Morning - 'We are zoologists'

We had a wonderful morning on Friday and were thrilled to see so many parents join us for our maths and English activities. The theme of the morning was 'We are zoologists' linked to our ICT and Science topics this term. We asked the children and parents to construct a 3D hotel for an animal of their choice using just straws, sellotape and paperclips. They then had to work out the cost of building their hotel based on a charge of 10p per straw. Everyone really rose to the challenge and produced some very impressive structures¬

Butterfly Excitement

In science we have been studying the butterfly lifecycle.  We seen each part of the life cycle happen for real in our own classroom!  Mrs Walker organised for us to have five caterpillars in each class which we looked after over a period of a month.  We watched as they grew bigger, developed into chrysalises and eventually transformed into Painted Lady butterflies.  We were lucky enough, in both classes, to see the one of the butterflies emerge from its chrysalis.  An incredible experience! Sadly three days after emerging from the Chrysalises we had to release the butterflies.  The was an emotional event especially as the butterflies didn't seem to want to fly away! This did mean that several children were able to actually hold the butterflies in their hands!
